Riffin' at the Roosevelt is a piece I wrote to serve as an example for arranging techniques for 3-horn jazz ensembles. It was part of my presentation at the 2011 Jazz Education Network conference at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, and it is based on the chord changes for the tune "There Is No Greater Love,"

It is a chart for 3 horns and rhythm section with lots of options for which instruments play the 3 horn parts. I have made this chart available for free downloading by school band directors. • 1st horn - trumpet/soprano sax/clarinet
• 1st horn - alto sax
• 1st horn - violin
• 1st horn - flute (Works best if there is also another horn playing part 1)
• 2nd horn - alto sax
• 2nd horn - tenor sax
• 2nd horn - clarinet/flugelhorn
• 3rd horn - trombone
• 3rd horn - tenor sax
• 3rd horn - bari sax
• Bass (Bass player could also use the condensed score / lead sheet)
