I have written several pieces for flute ensembles with optional rhythm section accompaniment.

To order these pieces in the US, please send me email for a current US price list. I generally send out PDF files of the scores and parts and accept payment via PayPal. Here are available original compositions for flute ensembles:

• Los Lagartos: Flute Quartet or Quintet with optional rhythm section

  This is an original jazz composition in an Afro Cuban style for 3 C flutes, alto flute (or 4th C flute), optional bass flute, and optional rhythm section (piano, bass, and drums). The piece is suitable for a flute quartet, quintet or flute choir. It has solo space for alto flute (or optional 4th C flute); players can read the written solos or improvise.

• Count Me In: Flute Quartet or Quintet with optional rhythm section

  This is an original jazz piece in an easy swing tempo reminiscent of the Count Basie Band. It is scored for 3 C flutes, alto flute (or 4th C flute), and optional rhythm section (piano, bass, and drums). An optional bass flute part is also included, making the piece suitable for a flute choir or larger flute ensemble. It has solo space for 2nd flute and alto flute; players can read the written solos or improvise.

• Armistice: Flute Quartet or Quintet with optional rhythm section

  This is an original jazz piece, medium to up-tempo. It is scored for 3 C flutes, alto flute (or 4th C flute), and optional rhythm section (piano, bass, and drums). An optional bass flute part is also included, making the piece suitable for a flute choir or larger flute ensemble. It has solo space for 2nd flute and alto flute; players can read the written solos or improvise.

• Monday Morning: Low Flutes ensemble with optional rhythm section

  This is an original jazz piece, a mournful 3/4 blues. It is scored for 3 alto flutes, bass flute, optional contrabass flute, and optional rhythm section (piano, bass, and drums). It has solo space for 2nd alto flute; players can read the written solos or improvise. A separate page of solo chord changes is included for soloists other than the 2nd alto flute player.

  There is no demo recording available at this time, but the piece is an expansion of the 3rd movement of the Blues Suite for Flute Quartet, which was scored for a different combination of flutes. Listen to demo recording of a different version

• Happenstance: Flute Quartet with optional rhythm section

  This is an original jazz composition for 3 C flutes, alto flute (or 4th C flute), and optional rhythm section (piano, bass, and drums). It has solo space for 2nd flute and alto flute - players can read the written solos or improvise.

• Happenstance: for the Jazz Flute Big Band
  

  I was commissioned by the Jazz Flute Big Band, directed by Billy Kerr, to arrange a version of "Happenstance" to be performed by the JFBB at the 2017 National Flute Association (NFA) conference in Minneapolis. The JFBB version is available free to members of the NFA. Please contact the NFA to obtain the score and parts for your ensemble. The instrumentation is: Piccolo 1 doubling flute, Piccolo 2 doubling flute, Flute 1, Flute 2, Flute 3, Alto Flute 1, Alto Flute 2, Alto Flute 3, Bass Flute, optional Contrabass Flute, and optional rhythm section (piano, bass and drums).

• Blues Suite for Flute Quartet: Flute Quartet with optional rhythm section

  This is an original 4-movement piece for 3 C flutes, alto flute (or 4th C flute), and optional rhythm section (piano, bass, and drums). Each movement is based on a variation of a 12-bar blues, with additional introduction, bridge, and coda sections. Each movement has a different rhythmic feel. Any movement can be played alone or in any combination. Written solos are included for some movements. Improvised solos are optional.
